AFTER A BREAKOUT ROOKIE SEASON, HARVARD FORWARD KYLE CASEY HAD TO DEAL WITH MORE THAN HIGH EXPECTATIONS AS A SOPHOMORE. NOT ONLY DID HE JUGGLE A RIGOROUS ACADEMIC SCHEDULE WITH HIS ATHLETIC COMMITMENTS, CASEY ALSO PLAYED HALF THE SEASON WITH A DEBILITATING INJURY. NOW THAT HE'S FULLY HEALTHY, THE JUNIOR HAS HELPED LEAD THE CRIMSON TO ITS FIRST TOP 25 RANKING IN PROGRAM HISTORY.
It's nearing 11 p.m. on a cold Friday night in early March. Less than three hours prior, then-sophomore Kyle Casey was on the court with his Harvard teammates fighting for a victory against Penn that
would preserve their shot at an Ivy League championship.
Casey finished with just four points, but the Crimson earned a 79-64 win, setting
up a deciding matchup with Princeton for the following evening. Beat Princeton, and Harvard wins at least a share of its first ever Ivy League championship. Lose, and the title drought continues.
