With blank white walls upholding the
downtown Miami establishment, the
arts vibrant array of hues illuminated
the building for passing fans to take
pictures of. The art ranged from abstract
basketball paintings, murals and player
portraits done over canvas, pieces of L.A.s
All-Star hardwood, and even full-sized
berglass backboards. All were available
for purchase.
While the event primarily focused on
the Heat, other stars were also prominently featured. Kevin Durant, Kobe
Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and
Derrick Rose all had awe-inspiring work
displayed in their honor.
Some of the pieces sold for up to
$40,000, and 20 percent of all sales
benetted the Heat players respective
charities. Boshs Team Tomorrow Inc,
and Wades Wades World Foundation
were each presented with $15,000 checks
23
for their participation in the event. Both
were extremely appreciative, and pledged
to continue their support.
When asked whose art hangs in his
house, Wade joked that he only displays
the drawings and paintings of his kids.
Its important for us to understand
the value and importance of art and the
remarkable impact it can have on our childrens lives along with its ability to inspire
creativity and imagination, Wade says.
