into overtime, but the shot was no good.
The championship game between New
York and Chicago was almost as exciting
as the double-overtime Nets game played
on that ���oor a little while earlier that evening. In the ���rst half, New York got out to
an early lead and went up double ���gures at
the half. During halftime, Chicago���s huddle
was a motivated one. They realized what
was at stake and played their hearts out
on defense of their city in the second half.
They came back for the win and exploded in
happiness as soon as the buzzer sounded.
When I asked them how they were able
to ���ght it out and come away with the victory, one of the players responded, ���Really
you just have to leave your ego at the door.
Everyone on the team can play, but when

you drop your ego and play sel���ess basketball, that���s when you���re at your best and we
were at our best in that last half.���
After holding up that trophy and celebrating the victory, the players had nothing left to do but look forward to defending
their title next year. For now, the ���rst Red
Bull Midnight Run championship trophy
will live in Chicago.
